So why in the world would you want to outsource? The truth is, outsourcing can actually help you have more control and be more productive. And you don’t have to outsource everything.

Why Should I Outsource?

  • It allows you to focus on your core business. Think of all the small tasks you do in a day. How many of those take up too much time? How many of them do you really dislike doing? By passing those tasks on to a freelancer, you can free up your time to focus on the more important aspects of your business.
  • It makes you more productive. Really, it does. When you have someone else working on the things that you aren’t great at or just really hate to do, you become more productive. You work faster and are just all around happier.
  • It makes your day more flexible. There are some business tasks that need to be done daily. Checking and responding to emails or interacting on social media are a couple of examples. By outsourcing these simple tasks, your schedule can be much more flexible throughout the day. Things that need to get done at a certain time can be done by someone else.

How Do I Decide What Tasks To Outsource?

There are many tasks that you do each day; some of them may even be so automatic to you and you don’t even realize you do them. So how do you decide which tasks you want to distribute to other people? Here are some questions to ask yourself: 

  • Which tasks do I dread doing? You know those tasks. The ones that the thought of doing, fill you with dread. Those are a great place to start outsourcing.
  • Are there tasks that I tend to procrastinate on? While you may not complete dread these tasks, they are the ones that you tend to put off. These are also great candidates for being outsourced.
  • Which tasks do I do repeatedly? Look for tasks that are done consistently. Maybe they don’t add any real value to your business, but must still be done. Hand these off to someone else and move on with your day.
  • Are there some areas that I may not have the most knowledge in? Be honest here. Are there some areas of your business that just aren’t your strong points? Do you think there is someone else who could do a better job then you could? If so, outsource it.
